We started putting up our fence this weekend. Mr. Chaos had a long holiday weekend and one of our closest friends said he would help (Boy do we owe him). So we bought all the supplies and got to work.
Fence building isn’t fun work. If the work isn’t labor intensive then the work is tedious. But by building it ourselves we saved lots of money.
Mr. Chaos was determined to get the fence completely built this weekend. The problem? Sunday was not a prime fence building day. It was supposed to be cold and rain off and on all day long. Mr. Chaos didn’t care. He came up with a plan to beat the Sunday weather. He would go out when it wasn’t raining, do what he could and come back inside. What Mr. Chaos didn’t account for was that the rain didn’t ever really stop. If it wasn’t raining it would be misting. And it was about 30 degrees outside before you factored in the 10-20 MPH winds that were happening. But that didn’t stop Mr. Chaos.
He layered up and went out whenever the rain had slowed. Would put up a few boards and run back inside.
I told him he was going to get sick. I told him he would catch pneumonia.
He told me he was determined. He told me he wanted to get the fence completely done by the end of the weekend.
Ah…determination….I have a new definition for ya.
Determination is your crazy husband building a fence in cold, rainy, windy weather just so you get it finished in one weekend. Determination is your crazy husband risking illness just to finish that fence so the kids can play outside whenever they want and the dog can run around crazy without running off.
I love Mr. Chaos and his fierce determination.
*Note* The fence is almost finished. He did good. He did real good. And a HUGE thanks to our friends for helping us out. We couldn’t have done the fence at all with the expertise of Mr. W!
